Atlantic Technological University
Projects delivered
Partnership sustained
Board approval secured
Atlantic Technological University was formed through the merger of three colleges, creating an institution of over 20,000 students across multiple campuses. With that scale came complexity, competing priorities, newly combined departments, and strategic decisions that required bringing together people who had not previously worked as one institution.
The relationship with Atlantic Technological University (ATU) began with a single project. A strategy facilitation engagement that needed to produce clear outputs within a defined timeframe. What it also produced, without anyone planning for it, was a working relationship built on trust, a shared understanding of how the institution thought, and confidence on both sides that the collaboration worked.
That first project led to a second. The second to a third. Over time, Red Mountain became a partner the ATU team reached for when they faced a challenge that needed external rigour, facilitation expertise, or fresh thinking brought to a complex internal process.
Across the partnership, Red Mountain worked with ATU on online learning strategy, helping the university think through how to build and position a credible digital offering in a rapidly changing market. The team worked on micro-credential development, a strategically important area for technological universities seeking to serve learners at every stage of their career. Post-merger institutional alignment was another significant strand of work, supporting a university still integrating its identity and ways of working following the merger that created it. The student experience design project, documented separately, was one of the most recent and most structured engagements in the partnership.
Across each project, Red Mountain was not starting from scratch. The accumulated understanding of ATU's culture, priorities, and decision-making processes meant that every engagement could move faster and go deeper than a first engagement with a new client ever could.
Partnerships like this are built on delivery. Each project either earned the right to a next one or it did not. The fact that the relationship grew and deepened over time is the clearest evidence that the work was consistently meeting or exceeding what ATU needed.
Board approval secured across the partnership reflects the level at which the outputs landed. These were not working group recommendations. They were strategies and business cases that made it to the top of the institution and held up to scrutiny there.
Working with Red Mountain was a fantastic experience. Their detailed planning and collaborative approach made the strategy design workshops enjoyable and insightful. They have a knack for connecting the dots and keeping everyone focused on achieving meaningful outcomes.
